Father and son bid to climb Western Europe's highest peak with Newfield support

by isleofman.com 25th August 2017

A father and son from Douglas in the Isle of Man are bidding to climb western Europe’s highest peak, Mont Blanc, to raise money for charity.

Patrick and David Butterworth are fundraising for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, which does vital work funding heart screening of young people in the Isle of Man and supporting the provision of life-saving defibrillators Island-wide, and the Isle of Man Netball Development Squad.

Isle of Man-based eGaming firm Newfield, where Patrick works, is supporting the fundraising with a donation.

Patrick, 22, explained: ‘Dad and I wanted to do something together, and what better way to bond than by climbing a mountain! There’s a lot of training, preparation and challenge, mental and physical, involved, and we thought it would be a waste to put ourselves through all that without taking the opportunity to support local causes.

‘I’d like to thank all my colleagues at Newfield for their support throughout the preparations, and for the generous donation, as well as everyone else who has supported us. If anyone else would like to donate we have a JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/david-butterworth4

Patrick and his dad leave the Island on 1st September and are aiming to reach the 15,781 foot summit on 6th September.

Newfield Director Mark Reynolds said: ‘We encourage every member of our team to challenge themselves, professionally and personally, and Patrick has taken that to the extreme! It’s going to be an incredible experience for Patrick and his dad, and we wish them all the best as they tackle Mont Blanc.

‘We’re delighted they have chosen to raise funds for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, which is Newfield’s 2017 Charity of the Year, and the IoM Netball Development Squad, as we are huge supporters of community sport initiatives.’

Established in 2012, Newfield is an international racing and sporting events company which utilises an outstanding IT platform and unrivalled expertise to maintain and grow its position as a market leader. It recently doubled its office floor space to accommodate its expanding business and growing team of almost 100 talented professionals.

The business is currently recruiting and employment opportunities can be viewed at www.newfield.co.im.
