Samaritans Isle of Man is offering its support to students who have received exam results during the past two weeks.
A-level results were announced on Thursday 17 August, and GCSE results today. This can be an overwhelming period for young people, from revising and sitting exams to waiting for results and making career-based decisions.
Samaritans is encouraging students who are struggling to cope to call them to chat about their worries.
Samaritans offer confidential judgement-free advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The number is 116 123 and it is free to call.
Gill Porter, Director of Samaritans Isle of Man, said: ‘Some people find it hard to speak to their friends and family about their feelings around
results day and what to do next. So we want to remind students that they can call us to chat about how they are feeling if they are upset and anxious. Sometimes airing your thoughts and getting them off your chest can be helpful.
‘After results day some young people may feel a little lost about what to do next. Fears about leaving school, starting a career, moving to university or facing disappointing results are very real concerns and Samaritans are here to talk to about your anxieties.
‘Please remember – you are not alone and if you, or your friends, are finding it hard to cope, pick up the phone and speak to us.’
