Consultation on Safeguarding Bill

by isleofman.com 23rd August 2017

The Cabinet Office has launched a consultation on legislation to reinforce the work of the Island’s safeguarding bodies.

The Safeguarding Bill provides a statutory basis for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. It also creates a new single Safeguarding Board to combine the roles of the Safeguarding Children Board and the Safeguarding Adults Partnership.

The establishment of a safeguarding body with powers and responsibilities in law is in line with the Programme for Government and with previous recommendations approved by Tynwald.

Anyone wishing to take part in the consultation is encouraged to visit the Government’s new consultation hub at:

https://consult.gov.im/cabinet-office/safeguarding-bill

to view the draft bill and submit feedback online. The consultation closes on 3 October, 2017.
