At their monthly lunch on Monday, 21st August, members of Douglas Probus received a talk by Bill Dale, the founder of Beach Buddies.
Bill talked about the early days of Beach Buddies with his dogs on the beach gathering rubbish. He then explained how it developed into the large organisation it is today with thousands of members. He said that the Isle of Man probably had the cleanest beaches in the world and his main thrust at the moment was to educate people and especially children not to throw away plastics and other rubbish but rather to recycle.
Bill has been invited to talk about Beach Buddies all around the world including New Zealand, Ohio and Hawaii.
Members were very impressed with Bills work and he was thanked on behalf of the members by Brian Kermode for his enlightening talk
