One Man and his Dog - Charity 24hr YouTube Live Stream

by isleofman.com 10th August 2017

Black Labrador Yvie lives on the Island with Daz Bartley, a 26-year-old who has arthrogryposis, a rare congenital condition that means he has minimal use of his arms and legs.

Since she has been with Daz she has completely changed his life for the better and given his independence and enormous boost.

Yvie is an assistance dog trained by charity Canine Partners.

The charity trains dogs to help with everyday tasks including picking up dropped items, opening doors, getting items from shop shelves, dressing and undressing a person and even loading a washing machine. They can also fetch help in an emergency. There are currently 388 canine partner assistance dogs across the UK – but just one on the Isle of Man.

Now Daz wants to give something back – so he and Yvie are preparing for a bumper social media challenge – and they need your help and support!

At midday on Monday 14th August they will begin a 24 hour YouTube live stream (ending midday on Tuesday 15th August) – Daz will tell his story and Yvie will show off her amazing skills while raising money and awareness for the charity.

The stream will involve a range of entertainment including video game footage, challenges with some of their friends and some singing.
