Try new phenomenon GlowSports at NSC courtesy of Microgaming

The National Sports Centre (NSC) is offering people the chance to get involved in the latest phenomenon – GlowSports.

At GlowSports sessions, traditional sports are played in the dark using luminous equipment.

Microgaming, via its PlayItForward initiative, has covered the costs of a GlowSports licence, and equipment, for the NSC.

The Isle of Man-based company already generously sponsors the Community Games, held for secondary school students each June.

Gianni Epifani, Senior Sport Development Officer, said: ‘The NSC will be the only place in the Island to offer GlowSports.

‘It’s a sociable, sensory and fun way to experience sport.

‘We hope it will encourage groups and individuals to try sport and get more active, in line with our Programme for Government and Strategy for Sport.

‘We are initially offering sessions for 11 to 18-year-olds on Friday evenings from 5 to 6pm, at a cost of just ?2.

‘There are daytime sessions on Friday 11th, Friday 18th and Thursday 24th August for schoolchildren aged six to 16 who have disabilities, also for ?2.

‘For over-16s, from 15th August we will be offering GlowSpin on bikes in the NSC Secondary Hall every Tuesday for half an hour from 6.15pm, for ?3.10.

‘In the near future, we’ll hold adult sessions in sports such as football and rugby, as well as GlowFitness sessions.’

Claire Coleman, Head of Microgaming PlayItForward, commented: ‘We saw how popular GlowSports was at the Community Games, so it made perfect sense to purchase a licence to enable even more people to get involved. I am sure the sessions will be popular. It is a fun and unique way to play sport.’
