ManxSPCA and Alzheimer’s Society Isle of Man have been chosen by Old Mutual International employees as the company’s charities of the year.
With over 450 staff at its HQ in Onchan, Old Mutual International is one of the Island’s biggest private sector employers, and every year employees nominate Isle of Man charities to support. The two most popular are chosen as the charities of the year.
Old Mutual International staff have been raising funds this year for ManxSPCA and Alzheimer’s Society Isle of Man through a variety of initiatives ranging from cake bakes and dress down Fridays, to employees raising funds from sponsorship by taking part in events such as the Manx Telecom Parish Walk and the Ramsey Bakery Isle of Man End to End Walk.
Peter Kenny, Managing Director of Old Mutual International, commented: “We are committed to supporting local charities, helping communities prosper, and pride ourselves on the initiatives that we deliver and the charities that we support on an annual basis.”
Old Mutual International staff have many fundraising events planned for the rest of this year, including an annual ‘Bake Off’ event, a charity football match, and end of year tombola. At the end of the year, all of the funds raised will be match-funded by Old Mutual International, and the final amount will be split equally between ManxSPCA and Alzheimer’s Society Isle of Man. In 2016, Old Mutual International’s charities of the year were the Friends of the Hyperbaric Chamber and A Little Piece of Hope, with each charity receiving a cheque for ?13,707.33.
