Isle of Man Post Office to sponsor Digital Lab at this year's ISLEXPO

Isle of Man Post Office is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring the Digital Lab at this year’s ISLEXPO where it will showcase its digital capabilities. The event, a two day conference, takes place on 24th and 25th of May in Douglas at the Villa Marina.

Once again led by the Department of Economic Development, this year’s Expo promises a packed programme full of keynote speakers, expert insights and informative workshops. ISLEXPO 2017 will have something for everyone, from those starting out with a business idea to the more experienced business person.

The Digital Lab is run by Google Digital Garage and offers a series of workshops over the two days led by the experts at Google, topics include, Tell Your Story Online, Know Your Business With Google Analytics and Get Stuck Into Digital, and alongside these a short film will be run from Isle of Man Post Office about its commercial services.

The Digital Lab provides the perfect platform for Isle of Man Post Office to highlight to delegates its digital capabilities, which have already helped support the delivery of digital government services. Here, the Post Office will be showcasing its recently introduced MiCard, which has been developed to streamline the process of the collection of benefits and pensions throughout its network of 25 branches. Click and Dispatch, a new online mail and parcel dispatch system, and a 360° Mailing solution, a digital service which integrates all of the Post Office’s mailing division’s core services, including scan to digital and digital hosting, into one slick package, and which has already been used by the Isle of Man Government for key projects such as the 2016 Census. In addition, Isle of Man Post Office has developed an Intelligent Hybrid Mail system, where recipients can choose how they receive their communications, either physically or digitally. Finally, the roll out of mobile handsets to delivery staff which allows the Post Office to provide full track and trace integration with Royal Mail and effectively administer authority to Sign For and Safe place services.

The Isle of Man has a thriving e-Business sector and we have invested heavily in skills development, training over 200 people in ICT at the JobCentre and creating a new ICT apprenticeship scheme. ISLEXPO’s Digital Lab will give people a further opportunity to hone their skills online and future proof our businesses here on the Isle of Man.”
