The Insurance Institute of the Isle of Man is delighted to announce that Matthew Hills has been appointed as its new President for the year 2017/18.
Commenting on his election by members of the local institute at its AGM this week, Matthew said: “I am both honoured and delighted to be appointed as President. I am looking forward to working with our members as well as the other local professional organisations to maintain the excellent standard of CPD events for insurance & financial services professionals on the island.”
Matthew, Client Service Director at Aon Insurance Managers (Isle of Man) since 2012, is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and holds a Honours degree in Business Studies.
Coming to the island in 2008 with Marsh Management Services, Matthew has worked with a number of international clients, handling the insurance and client management aspects of their captive insurance vehicles. Before coming to the island, Matthew worked for Marsh UK as personal lines broker and a risk consultant in their London office.
The AGM also saw the appointment of Sandra Cardwell, Managing Director of local IFA firm, Edgewater Associates Ltd, as Deputy President along with the following Council officers:

Education Secretary– Bryan O’Connor
Membership Secretary – Karen Shimmin
Vice Presidents – Peter Gallagher, Bryan O’Connor & Paul Ellison (Hon Life Vice President)
Christine Crowther, who has held, amongst others, the position of Secretary for a number of years has stepped down this year but will remain on Council as Hon Life Vice President which she was awarded with in 2015 for her many years of service to the local institute.
The Insurance Institute of the Isle of Man is the local branch of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) & also includes members of the Personal Finance Society (PFS). The institute acts as the educational representative body for all insurance and financial services professionals on the island.
