Albany Tennis Club News

by isleofman.com 30th March 2017

The Albany/Nedgroup Junior Open Finals day is this Saturday with prize presentation by Chris Watterson of Nedgroup Investments(IOM) Ltd. We would like to see all competitors whether winners or not at the club from 2pm to watch some of  the matches, attend the presentation and then have tea. The referee would be pleased if a couple of older juniors would volunteer to umpire some of the matches in the Under 8 event from 2pm on that day. Please let Ian Watson or Bryan Sharp know if you can help.

Good progress with the tournament programme was made on Saturday and through the week. Results so far are:

U10 Mixed singles - r/r Orry Farnworth bt Henry Davies 4/0; Henry Davies w/o Ben Bosworth; Orry Farnworth bt Ben Bosworth 4/4 (10-5). U12 mixed singles r/r -  Charlotte Clarke bt Orry Farnworth 4/0 4/0; U18 Mixed singles Roch Mirski bt Charlotte Clarke 6/0 6/1, Jack Christian bt Jayden Go 6/3 6/0, Roch Mirski bt Jack Christian 2/6 6/4 (12-10), Jack Christian bt Sasha Thomas 6/4 6/4, Sasha Thomas bt Jayden Go 6/0 6/2, Roch Mirski bt Jayden Go 7/5 6/3, Sasha Thomas bt Charlotte Clarke 2/6 6/3 (10-6).

Remaining results and photo will be in next week's Courier.

The courts are looking good after the working parties efforts. Will members please sweep excess leaves off the courts so that work parties aren't needed very often.
