The Insurance Institute of the Isle of Man announces Islamic Insurance event

by isleofman.com 21st March 2017

The local branch of the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Insurance Institute of the IOM is delighted to announce their next event which will provide an introduction to Islamic Insurance (Takaful).

With many Islamic scholars forbidding conventional insurance as 'gambling' or 'usury', Takaful operates on the basis of co-operative or mutual insurance under the notion to "bear ye one another's burden".

The presentation will be given by Chartered Insurer & Director of PB Consultants Ltd, Paul Bromley. Paul specialises in Bancassurance, Bancatakaful, Family Takaful, conventional insurance and strategic alliances in EMEA and Asia.

He works with companies such as Zurich, HSBC Group, AXA, Nexus, SALAMA along with Citibank, Standard Chartered and Al Rahji Bank.

Matthew Hills, Education Secretary of the local institute said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul, who is an energetic and engaging speaker with 45 years' experience in the industry, to present to members of the institute for the first time on what promises to be an engaging and interesting topic.”

The Insurance Institute of the Isle of Man is the local branch of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) & also includes members of the Personal Finance Society (PFS). They act as the educational representative body for all insurance and financial services professionals on the island.

Tickets are free to CII & PFS members with a charge of ?10 for non-members.
