Equiom Isle of Man has announced funding for a new match kit for the Laxey AFC Junior Under 7s club. The club, which is managed by local parents Nigel Beattie and Nick Cowell, is made up of a dedicated group of around 25 players from school year 2 who play in the Under 8s Development League at Bemahague School.
The donation of the kit supports over two years of play for the club, which has continued to develop through the 2016/17 season. While not a competitive league as such, it allows the players to build an understanding of the sport and develop knowledge in various match situations.
Managing Director of Equiom Isle of Man, Aidan Davin said: ‘I am pleased to be supporting such a dedicated team of young players. Equiom is always keen to support local sport and the Laxey AFC Under 7s is a fantastic initiative, bringing young players together to learn the techniques of the game as well as important life values such as focus and teamwork. I congratulate Nick and Nigel on all of their hard work in developing the players and wish the club the best of luck in the upcoming seasons.’
Nigel Beattie added: ‘Having the sponsorship of Equiom has given the squad a real identity at the matches and while obviously sounding biased, we are without doubt the best turned out club in the league! All players have shown real signs of progress, not only in technical ability, but also in other aspects of the game such as teamwork. These young players are often playing against children a year older, and having monitored their progress throughout the season, I am truly amazed by how much they have developed in this short period. On behalf of our players, their parents, Laxey AFC and Nigel and I, can I again put on record our thanks for the sponsorship from Equiom.’
The club plays every three weeks on Sunday at Bemahague School with regular training sessions in between.
