Albany Tennis Club News

by isleofman.com 9th March 2017

This week we have a special appeal from our facilities Manager, Bryan Sharp as follows: It is probably apparent to many members that following another wet winter the outside courts have become dirty in parts.. He is looking for volunteers to assist with lightly scrubbing the courts with special brooms, using clear water (no chemicals). He says "In my experience this is not too energetic, so this is an Equal Opportunities initiative!"  The proposed times are Saturdays 11th and 18th 12noon - 2pm and Sunday 19th March 10am - 12noon. Any time you can manage would be greatly appreciated. Please contact him (861497) if you intend to help as we may have to purchase extra brooms. The courts belong to all the members and from time to time help is needed to keep all facilities "up to scratch".

Reminders now - Nedgroup Junior Open - 25 March - 1 April. Events for all age groups and we would particularly like to see entries from other clubs. Entry forms have been e-mailed to all Albany members, there are some forms in the clubhouse, details on the club website and forms have also been posted to all schools and the NSC, so there is a variety of ways juniors can enter. Entries close at 6pm on Saturday 18 March. Any queries contact Ian Watson 4962934 or e-mail ianwatsonpts'cloud.com

Quiz Night - 31 March - contact Kirsten Hall to enter a team and book suppers - contact her on social@albanyltc.co.uk.

Members are reminded that we collect all used tennis balls and re-sell them to dog owners. This is one of many ways the committee look to raise funds and keep membership fees to a minimum. Also don't forget to re-new your membership before 31 March. Renewal forms have been issued for all members - if you pay on line PLEASE send a completed form to the membership secretary, Jan Gaskill. Also don't forget to indicate if you wish to play league tennis and if you have a British tennis membership. If you haven't enrolled you can do so on the LTA website (www.lta.org.uk/BTM)- this is free and  there are many benefits including access to the Wimbledon ballot and tickets for other major events.
