International trust and corporate services provider Equiom has appointed Derek Vaz as Deputy Global Chief Financial Officer. Derek will work closely with the Global Chief Financial Officer, Jeremy Evans and the wider Global Leadership team to develop the Group’s ongoing financial strategy.
Derek has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry, having had a number of senior roles within the Lloyds Banking Group and KPMG. He has extensive strategic, transaction and operational experience and has worked internationally across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Canada and the US.
Derek worked in the international division of the Lloyds Banking Group for 9 years including roles as CFO for the Middle East and the European Corporate Bank. In the latter role, in addition to managing a regional finance function, he played a key role in establishing the newly integrated European Corporate Bank following the merger between Lloyds and HBOS.
While at KPMG, Derek worked with financial services organisations as they embarked on their integration or divestment programmes. He designed and managed programme architectures for clients and supported the business to ensure that execution was delivered in a safe and timely manner.
Equiom’s Global Chief Financial Officer, Jeremy Evans, commented on the appointment: ‘As Equiom continues along its exciting growth path, we are pleased to have Derek on the team to help guide us as we expand into new jurisdictions and service areas. With his extensive experience in the financial sector and truly global background, he will be a valuable asset to the company.’
Derek added: ‘I am delighted and excited to be joining Equiom at this important stage of its growth plan. I continue to be impressed by the energy, enthusiasm and wealth of experience within the Group and I look forward to being part of the team that takes the business forward and successfully delivers the strategy.’
