Lesley Sleight has become the English Indoor Archery American Flatbow Champion. Lesley also won the overall trophy for the highest scoring lady archer shooting wooden arrows. The E.F.AA National Championships was held in Ampthill, Middlesex.

The competition involved shooting two PAA rounds. Each round consisted of shooting 60 arrows at a 20cm target from 20yards with scoring zones 1 to 5. In the morning session Lesley broke the English record by 15 points with a score of 198 but Silver medalist Dee Rayner score of 203 claimed the record.

In the afternoon Lesley put in another good performance scoring 191. Her finishing score of 398 points was the highest ever recorded for a double PAA round for Ladies American Flatbow.

Lesley said: “I am very pleased with my performance. I have only just started competing indoors and this was only my second IFAA indoor shoot. I managed to beat my personal best by 20 points. Becoming National Champion and highest scoring lady has helped boost my confidence.”

Lesley is a member of both Isle of Man Archery Club and Bowderyn Vannin Field club.
