NOVEMBER LUNCH
The November lunch was attended by 37 members and by one guest. The Speaker was our esteemed Secretary, John Christal, whose talk was entitled “Spirit of Adventure”. That was the name of the ship on which John and Margaret set sail a few years ago and it soon became apparent to them that one needed a spirit of adventure in order to survive that cruise where just about everything that could go wrong, did. The mishaps are too numerous to cover in this Newsletter but included being caught in a cyclone for three days, a sea food Buffet consisting of only crab, and the ship breaking down which led to the curtailment of the vacation and a departure from Madagascar in an ancient Dakota with luggage stored down the aisles. The talk was supported by a slide show and a geography lesson about Madagascar, which is the 4th largest island in the world, is a biodiversity hotspot, and has a population of 22 million; 90% of which live on less than $2 per day.
NOVEMBER 2016 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND 2017 ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS
The matters referred to in the Agenda, mailed to each member together with our November Newsletter, were all passed unanimously. Therefore, ?16 (no increase) is now due and payable by each member wishing to renew their membership for a further year, our Constitution provides that Annual Subscriptions are determined at each AGM and are payable at that meeting.
