Health and Social Care Minister unveils team’s responsibilities

by isleofman.com 15th November 2016

The four political members of the Department of Health and Social Care have been allocated specific areas of responsibility by the Minister, Kate Beecroft MHK:

•         Clare Bettison MHK – social care services for adults and for children and families
•         Rob Callister MHK – sharing hospital services, public health and the Island’s drug and alcohol strategy with the Minister
•         Ann Corlett MHK – mental health services and primary healthcare
•         Jason Moorhouse MHK – the Department’s corporate services.

Commenting on the appointments, the Minister said: “The health and social care services delivered by the Department are both diverse and complex.  Delegating responsibilities to members for the main service areas gives them the opportunity to immerse themselves in a specific field whilst providing political oversight and support for officers.

“This is a fresh political team for the Department, with a wide and varied body of experience.  I look forward to working with my colleagues to take forward the Department’s five year strategy, endorsed by Tynwald last year, which sets out to improve health and social care services for the people of the Isle of Man.”
