Albany Tennis News

by isleofman.com 10th November 2016

Club Coach, Ian Watson, had the pleasure of presenting IOMLTA  trophies to two of our juniors. The trophies were awarded at the recent IOMLTA dinner but unfortunately Sean Drewry (Island Junior Player of 2016) and Roch Mirski (IOMLTA Most Improved Junior of 2016) were not at the dinner. However arrangements were made to present them on Monday and Ian, who coaches both boys was happy to do this on behalf of the IOMLTA. Sean and Roch are just two of our juniors who work hard to improve their tennis and play in tournaments in the UK as often as finances allow. If any company would like to offer them some travel or kit sponsorship, I'm sure it would be welcomed. Contact Ian 496293 e-mail ianwatsonpts@manx.net or me 861497 albanytennispr@manx.net.

Plans for our annual Night at the Races on Friday 25 November starting at 7pm is progressing well. If members wish to help on the night, find Race sponsors, fill a Race sheet or help with the raffle and suppers please contact Jan Gaskill, Kirsten Hall (for tickets) or me.

The winter mixed leagues are now underway and Albany A made a good start with a 5-1 win, at home, over Castletown A . Unfortunately for the visitors they were a player short but it's still a tough fixture.

At the moment the autumn leaves are falling thick and fast, so will members who go to the club for a game sweep some of them to the corners of the courts. It is a safety issue and we must all do our bit - we can't afford a groundsman!
