IoM Archery Club Report 9th October

by isleofman.com 12th October 2016

There was a good turnout for the first Handicap shoot of the new Indoor season. The round of the day was a WA18 (single face for Recurves – triple face for Compounds). The usual suspects were joined by Nathan Kinrade for his first Indoor shoot and Simon Jennings for his first shoot ever.

The archers had mixed fortunes with both Josh Trafford (Recurve but using a triple face target) and Aaron Pannell-Cottier shooting well below their best, while Jacob Brookes, Toby Young, Matt Elliott and Joseph Reaney all shot personal best scores for the round.

There was the usual tussle between Pete Mumford and Dave and Rhys Moore for the scratch honours in the Gents Compound with Rhys emerging the victor. Pete edged out Dave in scratch terms but finished behind him after the handicap was applied.

Danny Cowin put in the highest Recurve scratch score of the day but had to settle for joint sixth place after handicapping. Joseph Reaney added 17 points to his pb to finish in fourth place overall, with Matt Elliott adding 28 points to his pb to finish in third. Toby Young added a terrific 57 points to his personal best score for the round but was beaten into second place by Jacob Brookes who added an outstanding 118 points to his pb to seal the win.
