A golf day hosted by international eGaming company Newfield has raised more than ?2,500 for the Hyperbaric Chamber.
More than 50 people, including Newfield employees and guests, turned out for the event at the Castletown Golf Links earlier this month.
Playing in a Texas Scramble format, participants enjoyed some tough competition but also plenty of fun as drinks and snacks were delivered by buggy to players as they made their way around the coastal course. The strong wind added to the challenge for players, as well as to the buggy drivers as they attempted to keep everyone refreshed!
The well-supported event was in aid of the Hyperbaric Chamber and, so far, more than ?2,500 has been collected with more donations still coming in. The Hyperbaric Chamber uses hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat conditions like decompression sickness and aid recovery from injury and was chosen by Newfield employees as the firm’s charity of the year for 2016.
The golf day was just one of a series of events raising money for the Chamber during the year, and follows on from a donation of more than ?2,400 raised by employees who took on the Toughmann Challenge in August.
Newfield Director Denis Mikan said: ‘We had a brilliant day playing at the Castletown Golf Links. Despite the weather, there was some great golf and the wonderful company ensured it was a fun-filled event. The day raised a huge amount for our charity of the year, the Hyperbaric Chamber, and will go a long way towards helping support this important service.
‘I’d like to pay tribute to all my colleagues who helped organise and run the golf day so well, and to thank everyone who supported our fundraising by joining Newfield employees on the course. I’d also like to say a special thank you to the teams from Standard Bank, Silverston Osteopathy, Manx Telecom and Domicilium for contributing prizes for the golf day.
‘We’re also grateful to the Castletown Golf Links, especially for the much-needed and excellent meal provided before our prize presentation.’
Denis added that Newfield is committed to the Isle of Man, supporting events and sports through sponsorship and fundraising for charity.
He said: ‘We are determined to be an active part of the Isle of Man community and, just like every aspect of our business, we encourage every employee to get involved and feel part of what we do. The Hyperbaric Chamber was chosen by Newfield employees for support this year, and everyone has thrown themselves into a range of fundraising activities, which have been great fun and have brought in vital money for the service.’
Thanks to its continued success since beginning operations in the Island more than four years ago, Newfield is also contributing to the Isle of Man community by providing employment opportunities. The company is currently recruiting people with a strong mathematical background and a keen willingness to learn, and any interested in joining the Newfield team is encouraged to contact enquiries@newfield.co.im.
