Barclays in the Isle of Man has promoted Ray Thornton and Colette Johnston in its local markets team.
Mr Thornton will work with Barclays’ Premier clients in his new role as a relationship manager.
Based at the Barclays branch on Victoria Road, he will be the first point of contact for local Premier clients and will offer guidance on the range of Premier banking services available.
Mr Thornton joined Barclays in 2007 and has worked in the local markets team for the last three years. He has experience in business and international personal banking and has previously worked in the bank’s Sky Branch customer contact centre.
As a Barclays Digital Eagle, Mr Thornton also has extensive experience of teaching islanders digital skills through the bank’s range of digital initiatives. He has played a key role in running Tea & Teach sessions, which help build confidence with digital skills such as online banking, using Skype, iPad tutorials and using smartphones, as well as teaching young people to code through Barclays Code Playground.
“I’m looking forward to the variety of my new role, sharing both my banking and digital expertise and building relationships with clients,” said Mr Thornton.
“Barclays has a great range of services available to Premier customers and I’ll be working with clients to understand their banking needs and recommend the most appropriate products for their requirements.”
Barclays head of local markets in the Isle of Man, Colette Johnston, said: “Ray’s new role is dedicated to our local Premier client base which will enable us to help more effectively with their banking needs.
“Ray’s wide-ranging knowledge of the banking sector and his experience as a Barclays Digital Eagle will be a great benefit to our Premier clients.”
Ms Johnston has also recently been promoted to vice president. In her role as head of local markets she manages Barclays Personal and Premier banking services for the Isle of Man, ensuring the team of Premier relationship managers and community bankers deliver exceptional service and business performance for local clients and customers.
Her role also involves building business relationships across the Isle of Man finance industry and working with Barclays colleagues to deliver banking, investment and mortgage services for the island’s business community.
Ms Johnston joined Barclays in 2003 and has extensive experience of managing teams within the bank’s international Premier and local mortgage businesses.
She recently managed the introduction of Barclays’ new community banking model in the bank’s Douglas, Ramsey and Castletown branches.
