GB medals at European 3D Championships

by isleofman.com 9th September 2016

Manx archer Lesley Sleight competed for Great Britain in the European 3D championships held in Mokrice- Catez, Slovenia.

Lesley started the competition well posting the 8th highest score for both first and second day. This meant after the qualification rounds Lesley was ranked in 10th position. Lesley was one of six members of the Great Britain team to go through to the elimination rounds The elimination day proved difficult and Lesley put in a below par performance. She finished the competition in a disappointing 16th position.

Great Britain however came away with medals. The women’s’ team of Victoria Barby, Jessica Nilsson and Emily Williams went on to win Bronze and Michaela Lake gained a Silver Medal in Women’s’ instinctive class.

Lesley said “I am proud of all our team. Competing at this level against the top field archers in Europe is a great experience. We had some very challenging courses to cope with and some tricky slopes. The courses were set around the Castle Mokrice and golf course. The organising committee did a great job of making it difficult to judge distances.”

Lesley’s next focus is the IFFA World Field Archery Championships in Wagga Wagga, Australia at the end of the month. Lesley took the bronze medal at last years’ European Field Archery Championship and would love to follow this up with a World Medal.
