MannBenham Advocates are pleased to announce that Tim Henwood was called as an advocate by His Honour Deemster Doyle, First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls on the afternoon of the 17th of August 2016.
Tim was admitted as an attorney in South Africa in 1985. Having practiced as an attorney for more than ten years, he moved into the regulated financial services industry working in Jersey before taking up residence in the Isle of Man at the beginning of 2004. During the swearing in ceremony, Deemster Doyle took the opportunity to remind advocates of their first duty which is to assist the court and in looking after their clients to act with absolute integrity and honesty.
Managing Director of MannBenham Advocates Limited, Miles Benham said: “Tim is part of our team of experienced lawyers working together to serve the Isle of Man and the worldwide community who avail themselves of Isle of Man legal and associated services. His decision to take the Manx Bar exams and become an advocate adds to his experience and qualifications. Tim is available to advise our clients particularly in the areas of estates, wills and trusts. He has already undertaken contentious work in these and other fields including matters relating to mental capacity and ecclesiastical work.”
Tim added: “I am delighted to be part of the team at ManBenham Advocates Limited. Perhaps still a ‘blow-in’, my calling as an advocate strengthens special links to this wonderful Island. Over the years that I have lived here, the Island has given me much and I hope that being an advocate will allow me to give something back!”
