International professional services group Boston Multi Family Office has announced the appointment of a new CEO. Alex Fray has taken the helm, having served as Chief Operating Officer for the group since early 2014.
Alex is an experienced executive with particular expertise in financial services and technology companies. He started his career with listed company Brooks Macdonald Group as a financial accountant, later taking a directorship within the group. He has since held several influential leadership positions at both start-ups and large corporates, including time as a Management Consultant with BT and CFO of boutique wealth management firm Mountstone Partners.
Alex commented on the appointment, saying “It is an exciting time for the group, which continues to grow organically and pursue a strategy of diversifying our service offering, whilst simultaneously taking steps to ensure we retain our signature independence and impartiality. In recent times we have significantly grown our operations in the Isle of Man and Malta, made the first steps towards developing an office in the Dubai International Financial Centre, and successfully rolled out our recruitment and capital introduction arms to complement our traditional strengths in fiduciary services. I see my new role very much as ensuring the continued consolidation and integration of these different offices and services, in which I am supported by an excellent and committed leadership team, both at group level and in each of our offices.”
Boston began life as a single family office and is still owned by the founders. Richard Moore, Chairman, also commented: “We are very fortunate to have an ideal candidate from within our existing leadership team taking this role, as I am confident it will help to ensure that the significant forward momentum the group has built in recent years will not be lost. Alex is particularly well suited to the role because we are increasingly differentiating ourselves as a truly technology-led business and he is exceptionally well versed in digital empowerment. I have every faith that the many families and corporates we support will be very pleased, as I am, with the service Boston provides under his diligent leadership.”
Alex has taken over from Greg Ellison, who stepped down in May after five years in the top spot at Boston. Alex and Greg have worked closely together for over two years, which has helped to ensure a smooth transition in line with the company’s strategic plan.
