Standard Bank Offshore Group has appointed Martyn Samphier as Head of Corporate & Business Banking and Banking Product.
Mr Samphier has worked for the Bank for more than three decades and has over 40 years of banking experience.
In his new role, Mr Samphier will not only lead Corporate & Business Banking, which serves the Bank’s trust and corporate clients, but will also oversee all banking product activities across the Offshore Group, which has banking operations in Jersey and the Isle of Man.
Mr Samphier said: “This is an exciting time to be working for Africa’s largest bank and I look forward to taking Corporate & Business Banking to the next stage of its development. Finding and developing new opportunities for our valued trust and corporate clients is as fulfilling as it is rewarding and I am privileged to now be leading such a committed and versatile team.”

Mr Samphier moved to Jersey with Barclays Bank in 1984 and joined Lazard Brothers the following year. He was appointed Banking Director in 1993 and has continued in various senior management roles since the company’s acquisition by Standard Bank in 1999, most recently as an Executive within the Corporate & Business Banking team, specialising in the provision of lending and deposit pooling services.
Mr Samphier is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
