Manx Telecom has appointed Francesco Vestri as Hosting and Managed Networks Principal Technical Specialist. During a 14 year career as an IT specialist he spent a year working for the Italian National Olympic Committee (Coni Italia) as Network and Operations Manager responsible for the set-up and operation of the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The conference centre, Coni Italia’s HQ during the Games, attracted thousands of visitors to celebrate the nation’s medal successes, and to experience events and displays celebrating Italian culture, cuisine, and business. Italy had the ninth biggest team out of the 205 nations which competed at London 2012.
His new role involves ensuring that Manx Telecom provides a complete technical end-to-end service for managed network and hosting customers, and providing technical support on the implementation of standard and bespoke Managed Services Platforms for customers, cloud services and internal management systems.
Commenting on his role at London 2012, Francesco said: “Working at this event was really unique, I felt part of the Olympic success. The role challenged my ability to deal with a range of technologies, from networking and security to professional broadcasting.”
Francesco, a graduate of Universita di Pisa (University of Pisa) where he gained an honours degree in Telecommunications Engineering, also holds a number of technical qualifications including being a Cisco qualified network engineer (CCNP R&S Certified) and a Cisco qualified IP telephony engineer (CCNP Voice Certified). He also has Linux system administrator and scripting language qualifications. Francesco joins Manx Telecom from Finmeccanica where he worked as Networking and Voice Engineer since 2012.
Jason Malone, Head of Hosting, Managed Networks and Transport, said: “I welcome Francesco and his family to the Isle of Man and am very pleased with his appointment within the Hosting and Managed Networks team. As a Cisco certified professional in both networking and voice, complemented with many years of practical experience, Francesco’s contribution will help further strengthen our ability to implement and support our customers’ solutions while building on the vision and strategy of the business to grow our corporate Managed Services portfolio and client base.”
