Manx Cricket Report

George Burrows blasted an incredible century for Finch Hill in their T20 victory over Union Mills on Monday. He smashed 109 from only 56 balls in an innings which included 14 fours and 2 sixes. George opened with Matthew Nicholson and the pair put on 145 before Nicholson was bowled for 57. There was then a stand of 96 with Tom Burrows which ended when George was caught by Will Miller off the bowling of Richard Taylor. Tom Burrows went on to make 67 from 35 balls as the Finches closed on a massive 263 for 3 from their 20 overs.

The Millers were dismissed for 95 with Joseph Lee taking 4 for 20 and Peter Foxton 3 for 3. To complete a memorable match, George Burrows took a catch and made three stumpings!

Peel and St Johns had a narrow four wicket win over Cronkbourne to go top in the Cain First Division. Jaco Jansen got the Douglas team off to a good start by hitting 46. Max Stokoe struck 17 while Carl Mellors and Sam Mills both made 16. Cronkbourne ended on 130 for 8 and the Saints were rocked when Matt Ansell took a wicket in their first over. However, Ollie Webster and Russell Miller soon gained control and the score moved to 88 when Webster was bowled for 41. Three runs later smart fielding from Sam Mills ran out Miller for 41 and two more wickets quickly went down to leave Peel on a shaky 92 for 5. Nick White kept his cool and, in a tense climax, his 21 not out guided the Saints to victory with only one ball left.

Mark Williams rescued the Castletown innings in their match against Crosby. Opener Jack Newbery had cracked 33 for the Town, but the other batsmen were struggling. Williams faced only 38 balls, but hammered 60 not out with 10 fours and one six. The Town finished on 122 for 7, but could not stop Crosby replying with 125 for 5. Kevin Kniveton hit 41 and Ryan Windell 35 as the Marown team notched up their second T20 win in the Cain.
