The recently leaked Panama Papers were top of the agenda for many at the latest Offshore Alert Conference held over three days at the Ritz-Carlton in Miami, Florida.
Attended by local litigation advocates Charles Coleman and Andrew Marshall of Gough Law, the Conference is a financial intelligence and investigation event. Each year it brings together clients, providers and investigators of high end financial products and services from UK, Europe, USA, Canada and key offshore jurisdictions to network and discuss wealth creation, preservation and recovery.
One of the keynote speakers in Miami was Gerard Ryle, Director of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. It was Gerard who brought together journalists from all over the world in order to release the story relating to the Panama Papers.
Gough Law Associate Advocate Andrew Marshall commented: “The offshore world is much in the spotlight since the Panama Papers disclosure and it was fascinating to hear about Gerard’s involvement in publicising the leak and the discussion on its impact that followed”.
“Panama Papers aside, the Conference offered sessions on a wide range of topics including data protection and digital forensics, as well as updates on legal and enforcement cases.”
“At Gough Law we strive to maintain our position at the cutting edge of international fraud litigation. Keeping up to date with developments is key to our success and it is also important to us to stay in touch with other firms engaged in this field. The Offshore Alert Conference is a great place for us to do this and we have been a regular supporter for many years.”
Based in Douglas, Gough Law has extensive experience of offshore and cross-border litigation. It has represented foreign and domestic clients in asset tracing claims and has performed pivotal roles in recovering hundreds of millions of US Dollars from fraudulent activities.
