Salute to 'great leader and mentor'

The late founder of an Island actuary and consultancy firm has been honoured with an award recognising his contribution to the industry.

Gary Boal who established Boal and Co, died last year aged 52.

He was named recipient of the lifetime contribution accolade at the 2016 International Adviser Product and Services Awards.

CEO Mark Kiernan collected the award on Gary's behalf, paying tribute to his colleague and close friend of 20 years.

Mr Kiernan said it was Gary's "drive and passion that saw the firm grow into one of the largest offshore actuarial and pension trustee firms.

"He was a great leader and mentor."

Dylan Emery, Group editorial director & co-founder of Last Word Media, said: "‘The cross-border world is known for housing a wide array of characters: the scrupulous and the serious but also occasional charlatans and chancers."

He went on: "Gary stood out for his absolute honesty and integrity; his superlative technical knowledge; and his fearlessness in both publicising and defending his opinions. It was a joy to have known him, both professionally and personally and he is greatly missed."
