Record upped to more than 133mph

Michael Dunlop has made history, on the first lap of the first race of TT 2016.

From a standing start in the Superbike race he clocked the first ever sub 17-minute lap of the Mountain Course - 16m 58s, at an average speed of 133.37 mph.

It's also the first time a rider has lapped at more than 133mph.

Ian Hutchinson was also inside the old record on his opening circuit of the course.

Here's the moment Dunlop rewrote the record books, as described by Tim Glover on Manx Radio TT: (play audio)

Dunlop then upped his new record by a tiny margin on lap two.
