Albany Lawn Tennis News

by isleofman.com 26th May 2016

Firstly a huge apology to Seraphina Batty and Tania Thomas for the incorrect result in last week’s IOMLTA Veteran Championship report. Seraphina and Tania won the women’s O35 doubles – the runners up were Linda Faragher and Jacinta Holland.

Sorry girls I misread the r/r chart. As Tania said “the first time they manage to win and they can’t bask in the glory”. Hope you can enjoy the glory this week!!

Albany members, over 35 yrs old – the island needs you. Neil Ronan is organising the county teams – men and women and needs the names of anyone interested. The events are played at Devonshire Park – a lovely tennis grass court venue – with the women’s event from 5 – 7 August and the men playing 26 – 28 August. Now the club has had quite a few new members this year and we do have players of county standard so please get in touch with Neil – neil_ronan@hotmail.com.  He needs to know by this weekend. Last year the IOMLTA didn’t manage to send a women’s team so can we please try and do so this year.

Saturday Mini Tennis – will the members who attend at 12noon and 1pm please wear their Auxesia shirts – we need a photo of you with the money collected for the Friends of the Children of Chernobyl, which will be handed to Norman & Joan Rivers at the club at 1pm on Saturday. I’m pleased to say that the club and our Friday Morning Ladies Group plus members from Douglas TC, Castletown TC and Ramsey TC have also made collections and donations.

The next junior tournament will be the Albany/Equiom Junior Open event from 11 – 17 July. Entry forms will be e-mailed to all junior members and the other Island clubs – this is an open event and we would be pleased to see players from the other clubs.
Entry forms will also be printed and distributed. Each entrant will receive an Equiom sponsored T shirt.
