Grant Thornton has appointed experienced tax advisor Andrew Hunter as Senior Tax Consultant in its Isle of Man Tax Department.
Born and educated in Scotland, Andrew has more than two decades’ tax and accountancy experience and is a Fellow of the Association of Taxation Technicians.
After graduating with a degree in accountancy from Abertay University, Dundee, Andrew spent 11 years working for a top 20 accountancy practice in London before moving to the Isle of Man in 2005.
The qualified Chartered Tax Adviser spent almost a decade working with another large local accountancy practice.
Andrew is now looking forward to his new challenge at Grant Thornton.
He said: ‘I am looking forward to working with Grant Thornton at an exciting time for its Isle of Man office, as it seeks to expand its team and further strengthen its offering to clients. I have worked with large practices before, but the extensive global network of expertise and knowledge Grant Thornton has made this position very attractive to me – the Tax Department can draw on the knowledge and research of international colleagues to deliver a comprehensive and bespoke service to clients.’
Grant Thornton is one of largest worldwide accountancy practices, with offices in more than 100 countries. Since a merger with BDO (Isle of Man) in early 2014, the Isle of Man office has increased its audit and assurance business and, through appointments like Andrew’s, continues to build its tax services.
Managing Director Dennis McGurgan said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Andrew to our growing team at Grant Thornton. He brings a wealth of experience from a professional tax and accountancy career of more than 20 years, both here in the Isle of Man and in the UK, and has in-depth knowledge of a broad range of taxation issues.
‘The combination of his personal experience and his unquestionable enthusiasm for his role will enhance out Tax Department and benefit our clients greatly.’
