Vaulting ambition for barn conversion

A Manx businessman has completed a three year, £3 million project to develop visitor accommodation he says is unique in the Island.

Ballaloughton Barn Hotel has been a labour of love for Paul Davis, who runs a rare breeds farm on South Barrule near Ballasalla.

The development is aimed at leisure visitors who want a holiday off the beaten track, business guests seeking an exclusive venue - or celebrities demanding complete privacy.

Mr Davis says he's engaged Manx contractors and local suppliers for the conversion of the 18th century building into what's described as a 'superhouse' - for which he's aiming to attract the Island's first six-star rating. 

Refurbishment of the exterior reflects the original Manx design, with an ultra-modern 'high end' spec inside.

For those who can afford it, the service includes a car, driver, and a caretaker.
