Personal capability: Committee to hear oral evidence

The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee, a Standing Committee of Tynwald, will be taking oral evidence on Friday 13th May 2016 from the person listed below at the time stated.

10:45 am Sonya Chowdhury (Chief Executive Officer, Action for ME)

The session will be held in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. The evidence will be taken in public. Members of the public are welcome to attend, and the proceedings will also be streamed live via the Tynwald website.

It was resolved on Tuesday 15th March 2016:

That Tynwald is of the opinion that the operation of the personal capability assessments should be referred to the Social Affairs Committee for examination and report by June 2016.

The Committee issued a call for evidence on 17th March 2016. Ms Chowdhury is the Chief Executive Officer of Action for ME which is a UK charity working to improve the lives of people with M.E.

The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee, comprising Mr David Cretney MLC (Chair), the Hon Steve Rodan SHK and Mr Geoffrey Boot MHK, is one of three Standing Committees of Tynwald Court established in October 2011 with a wide scrutiny remit.
