Hubpeople doubles size of it’s Douglas operation

Hubpeople, based in Douglas, develops and runs an innovative online dating platform which powers thousands of dating websites worldwide, has increased its work force from 10 to 23 permanent staff in the last year.

The massive demand for online services and in particular online dating has enabled the ongoing economic expansion for the company. Hubpeople have been working closely with the Department of Economic Development (DED) for the last two years whilst developing an effective e-Business strategy together, this has been further strengthened by the recent support from the Department of Economic Development, Financial Assistance Scheme.

"The grant assistance afforded by DED/Government allowed us to de-risk an ambitious hiring and expansion strategy enabling further investment in key permanent local staff and facilities based in the Isle of Man. Helping us to succeed in improving the efficiency of our leading online dating platform and deliver significant revenue growth as a result. Our staff count more than doubled in the last year to 23 permanent Isle of Man employees and we are currently trying to fill a further three more roles on island. increasing the staff count to 30-35 permanent positions by December 2017.” said Michael O’Sullivan.

Michael O’Sullivan owner of Hubpeople and was voted one of the 30 most influential people in the worldwide online dating industry by Global Dating Insights in 2015.
