Company funds annual children's voyage

The Steam Packet is once again lending its support to youngsters from across the Island, when they take over the crewing of a tall ship this month.

Forty 13 and 14-year-olds are setting sail aboard the ship Stavros S Niarchos from Liverpool for a week.

The voyage is being run by Manx charity The Children's Centre, in association with the Tall Ship Youth Trust.

It's aiming to give a confidence and self-esteem boost to the teens, as well as valuable technical and life skills.

Steam Packet Chief Executive Mark Woodward, whose company is funding the outing, said it was a 'pleasure' to support the seafaring initiative year-on-year.
