Nedgroup Junior Open

Fine weather all week meant the events progressed on schedule with some very good matches played in ideal conditions.

Remaining results: U12 mixed singles r/r1 Roch Mirski 4 wins; 2. Jack Christian 3 wins, 3 Jayden Go 2 wins. U14 Girls r/r 1. Charlotte Clarke 4 wins, 2 Kitty Thomas 3 wins, 3 Hollie Robertson 2 wins. U18 Mixed Singles 1. Adam Pyatt-Coppell 4 wins, 2.Sasha Thomas 3 wins, 3 Jack Christian 2 wins.

The last match of finals day provided spectators including Simon Spencer of Nedgroup International (IOM) Ltd with an excellent match which last just over 2hrs. This was in the U18 with Jack Christian (12) beating Roch Mirski (11) 6/2 6/7 (10-8) 10-2. Roch saved 9 match points before Jack finally won. The standard of play for 2 such young players bodes well for the future of Albany, with all court play like a couple of mini Rafa Nadals!!

The trophies were presented by Mr Spencer but unfortunately some recipients were not available as they were also playing in the table tennis championships, competing in The Guild etc. Their trophies are in the office waiting to be collected.  Manx youngsters do lead busy lives. An excellent tea was provided for everyone.
