Albany Tennis Club Latest News

by isleofman.com 14th April 2016
The Summer leagues started this week and our men’s A team got off to a very good start with an 6-0 win at home to Douglas A.  For once we were able to turn out a team of our strongest players.  Usually someone is away, unavailable or not fit but this time we had Ian Watson, Jamie Teare, Sean Drewry and Marc Chinn playing.  Our women’s team was away to Douglas A – and managed a creditable 3-3 draw.  The team was Anna Jones, Jane Reynolds, Alison King, Kath Kermode.

The Albany Nedgroup Junior Open starts on Saturday with the 9s & under (orange ball) girls and boys starting at 10am and the red ball (U8) mixed starting at 2pm and finishing approximately 4pm.  Sunday 2pm – 5pm is Green ball mixed and the other age groups will be played throughout the week.  Finals Day is Saturday 23rd with prize presentation and tea at 4pm.  All players should have been advised of the time of their first match but if you are unsure contact the referee Ian Watson, 496293 or e-mail ianwatsonpts@manx.net

Any juniors who have an Auxesia sponsored shirt that is now too small for them might like to bring it (nicely laundered) to me at the club and in exchange they can buy a new one for ?5.  I can then pass on the smaller sizes to our new mini members for a fee of ?5. We currently have 50 Mini Tennis members and I’m short of the smaller sizes.  This re-cycling would help.
