Salute to Manx register's global reach

The Isle of Man Shipping Registry has taken home a prestigious accolade at an industry awards ceremony.

The organisation scooped the Global Reach accolade at the Mersey Maritime Awards for being actively involved in international trade and achieving a global impact.

The awards, sponsored by Natwest, recognise companies that have significantly increased their import or export activity in terms of goods and services throughout the past year.

Around 1700 businesses are eligible for the awards, which cover cover private sector firms in the maritime sector across Merseyside and the north west.

The Isle of Man registry hopes the recognition will ensure closer ties with the region and Merseyside in particular.

The 2016 awards ceremony was held at Wallasey Town Hall earlier this month, with BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin as special guest.
