Bragging rights and big win for northerners
Ramsey have given themselves a big boost in their bid for Canada Life Premier League survival.
That’s after they won the northern derby to move out of the relegation zone and leave Ramsey Youth Centre well adrift at the foot of the table.
The sides were level at the break but goals from Matthew Montgomery, Chris Halsall and veteran Martin Torr sealed a 3-1 home win and bragging rights.
Youth Centre could only muster an own goal.
Marown are now in the bottom two after going down 3-1 to St Mary’s.
Player-manager Steven Priestnal (two) and Steven Glover were the marksmen after a goalless first half.
Ashley Heginbotham replied for Marown.
Ayre United are also scrapping for their lives after throwing away a 3-1 lead.
They went down 4-3 at St John’s who have surely secured their top flight place after goals from Rhys Oates, Johnny Holland, Harry Rothwell and Louis Morris.
The other match saw the sides placed fourth and fifth share a point.
Ryan Burns opened the scoring for Corinthians before Callum Stewart levelled for Old Boys in a 1-1 draw.
The match was marred by a broken ankle sustained by Corinthians’ Sean Doyle.
Both clubs wish him well.
