Peel back on top in women's football

Westerners defeat Corinthians 2-0

Peel have reclaimed pole position in the Regency Travel-sponsored women's league, after defeating Corinthians 2-0 at Ballafletcher at the weekend.

Both goals were scored in the first half, courtesy of strikes from Sarah O’Reilly and Becky Corkish.

 

Douglas Athletic secured their first ever league point after drawing 2-2 against nine-player Colby at Station Fields.

 

Drawing 1-1 at half-time, debutant Courtney Hall and Stephanie Hall scored for the Arbory outfit, with the Pinks reply coming via strikes from Toni Beresford and Hannah Cowell.

 

In the remaining league match, ten-player Gymnasium defeated DHSOB 3-1 at Blackberry Lane.

 

With the score level 1-1 at the break, Shelley Simpson found the target for the hosts.
