Citywing is celebrating its third anniversary of delivering punctual, low-fare services to and from the Isle of Man.
Since 2013, it has carried around 200,000 passengers and now has more Isle of Man routes than any other carrier operating at Ronaldsway Airport, with services to Belfast, Blackpool, Glasgow, Gloucester, Newcastle and Jersey during the summer.
The business’s commitment to the Isle of Man runs deep; Citywing runs a 24-hour engineering base here and employs, with its partners, 50 people in the Island. In addition, it has been an active supporter of local good causes, with events like the annual plane pull, donations and showing charity promotional films during flights.
Managing Director at Citywing, David Buck, said: ‘The past three years have flown by as we have worked hard to deliver the low-fare, reliable services the Isle of Man needs. We are now the largest carrier at Ronaldsway, in terms of routes offered from the Isle of Man, and, according to a recent FlightView report, the most punctual. Our services were ranked as 27th most punctual in the world, while carriers like EasyJet, FlyBe, British Airways and Aer Lingus failed to make the top 60.
‘But that is only part of the Citywing story. We are proud to be based in the Isle of Man; it is our home. We have made a point of positioning aircraft and pilots in the Island, and operating 24-hour maintenance at Ronaldsway, to provide local employment and ensure a responsive service for passengers.
‘This is a competitive industry, and a tough one for a new name to become established in. However, Citywing is thriving thanks to its adaptable and service-focused approach, and sharing the values reflected in the Isle of Man’s own emblem the Three Legs of Man. The motto reads Quocunque Jeceris Stabit - whichever way you throw me, I stand – and Citywing identifies with that promise of reliability and resilience.’
David added: ‘We have already had a very strong start to 2016 and are looking forward to another year of growth and exciting developments as we head towards our fourth anniversary of serving the Isle of Man.’
Citywing offers reliable routes from the Island to a number of UK destinations, including Belfast, Blackpool, Glasgow, Gloucester and Newcastle. Citywing flights are operated exclusively for the company by EU airline Van Air, an airline that has operated the versatile and reliable Let 410 aircraft out of Ronaldsway for 10 years.
