Following on from their sell out ‘home-coming concert’ earlier this year, London based band Scarlett Parade are set to delight their local fan base again with a full performance at Isle of Man Cyclefest’s Festival at Milntown. Sure to be a real highlight of Saturday’s entertainment at Milntown, the up-and-coming group will take to the main stage that afternoon on a bill that already boasts fellow BBC Introducing artist Matt Creer.
Formed in 2011 by songwriters Geoffrey Tinkler and Adam Jones, Scarlett Parade’s music combines anthemic pop with folk roots and an alternative rock sound that spans many musical influences from Damien Rice to Florence + The Machine. Inspired also by the beautiful and fantastical words of Tolkien, W.B. Yeats, and Edgar Allen Poe, the duo has forged a sound of their own - one as timeless as it is current.
It’s no wonder then, that Scarlett Parade are blazing a trail that stretches from their Island home to the UK and beyond to America. And with a live performance on the seminal BBC Introducing series, the band also entered the studio last year to record their debut EP, ‘Wildwoods’.
With Tinkler on vocals, piano, and drums, and Jones on lead guitar and bass, the multi-instrumentalist duo enlisted top engineers Cenzo Townshend (Snow Patrol, Florence + The Machine), Tim Palmer (Blue October, Polyphonic Spree), and Steve Orchard (U2, Coldplay). Offering a real glimpse of all the colours in Scarlett Parade’s musical palette, ‘Wildwoods’ brings to fruition just a few of the tracks Tinkler and Jones had built and demoed on an old laptop, including their gorgeous single ‘White River’.
The final results of the band’s time in the famous Rockfield Studios can now be heard via streaming services such as Spotify, or downloaded from iTunes. For Isle of Man Cyclefest, however, the band will be bringing festivalgoers much more than these four beautifully constructed songs.
Paul Phillips, Director of Isle of Man Cyclefest Presented by Isle of Man Bank, was naturally delighted to see another of the Island’s top acts returning home:
“Scarlett Parade is a group of undoubted talent, and we’re very proud to have them play at Milntown and showcase their music. We’ve been very fortunate that so many of the Island’s top acts have all made themselves available for Isle of Man Cyclefest and are coming together to create a truly fantastic music bill.”
