Isle of Man Archery Club Report - 6th March

by isleofman.com 8th March 2016
The IoM Archery Club met on Sunday to shoot a Portsmouth round. The Compound archers and Recurver Josh Trafford shot on a triple face target whilst the rest shot on a single face.

Once again Rhys Moore took first place in the Gents Compound division but a personal best score by Colin Moore saw him secure second place just 8 points behind Rhys. Dave Moore finished in third well ahead of Pete Mumford.

Joy Gough put in another solid score in the Ladies Compound division.

Josh Trafford’s decision to shoot on a triple face target to save damaging his new carbon arrows had no effect on his performance. Josh posted the highest Recurve score of the day to finish 8 points clear of Danny Cowin. Dave Berry had a very poor day by his standards to finish third. Matt Elliot, who shot a little below his best, had to settle for fourth place.

Lesley Sleight was once again in record breaking mood in the Ladies Barebow classification. Lesley added 23 points to the record she set only a couple of weeks ago, so it now stands at 60/534/15.

The Junior Boys had obviously being paying attention during the recent coaching weekend, as all of them shot personal best scores on Sunday. Joseph Reaney added 32 points to his pb to take the win. James Hill finished in second having improved his pb by 3 points and Jacob Brookes added 11 points to his pb to finish third.

Lone Junior Girl Tilly Ashton finished only 2 points below her pb for the round in spite of having a miss.

Results Portsmouth: Gents Compound – 1. R. Moore 60/579/39, 2. C. Moore 60/571/31pb, 3. D. Moore 60/568/28, 4. P. Mumford 60/557/18. Ladies Compound – J. Gough 60/555/17. Gents Recurve – 1. J.
