Annexio, local secondary lottery services business has further enhanced its senior management team with the appointment of Joyce Briggs to the position of Head of Risk and Compliance.
Joyce joins Annexio to oversee the company’s compliance and regulatory functions with a focus on corporate governance, due diligence and managing relationships with external regulators.
A graduate in accounting from Anglia Ruskin University, Joyce began her career in her native country of Malaysia where she worked in finance roles for a number of businesses, before her six year spell as a manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
She has been involved with eGaming since 2010, initially as Senior Compliance Manager for 188BET in its Philippines office. Joyce later moved to the company’s Isle of Man office in 2011 to become Senior Corporate Affairs Manager where she was responsible for internal and regulatory compliance, sports betting integrity and investigating customer complaints. She is a Certified Data Protection Practitioner.
Joyce believes her experience in dealing with regulators in a number of different jurisdictions will help her get to grips with the secondary lottery market sector. “It is essential for any business in such a fast-paced industry to have a thorough understanding of its regulatory requirements. It is exciting, as well as challenging, to be in a sector which is evolving so quickly.
“Annexio operates in increasingly regulated markets where there are stringent licensing requirements and it is vital to ensure that these are understood and applied at every level in the business.”
A keen sportswoman, Joyce enjoys scuba diving and represented the Isle of Man in the Island Games Women’s Volleyball competition in Jersey in 2015. She speaks four languages and brings additional diversity to Annexio’s workforce which now comprises nationals from 12 different countries around the world.
Annexio’s Managing Director, Jennifer Houghton, said: “Joyce’s international experience gives her great insight into different regulatory requirements and procedures that will be extremely valuable in her new role. Since we launched four years ago, Annexio has built up a strong and trusted reputation in the secondary lottery services market. While we are fortunate to enjoy the respected status of operating from a well-regulated jurisdiction in the Isle of Man, we need to ensure we do everything we can to maintain our high standards of operation.
“Also, with players from over 70 countries around the world using our services, it is an added bonus to have Joyce and other team members who have a good understanding of other cultures to help us tailor our approach to our different markets.”
