The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service’s 10th annual walk will take place on Sunday 24th April, starting at Peel Fire Station at 08:30.
All proceeds from the event go to The Firefighters Charity, which provides various types of assistance to serving and retired fire service staff and their families.
Historically known as the Sara Killey Walk in memory of a colleague who sadly passed away, the event has been renamed The Firefighters Memorial Walk, in memory not only of Sara but also other colleagues and friends with a close association to the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service.
The event provides a great training option for those taking part in the Parish Walk, as well as being a challenge anyone can enjoy and a good way to help the charity. The 50-kilometre open road event follows the Parish Walk route from Peel to Ramsey, passing Kirk Michael, Ballaugh, Jurby, Andreas, through Sulby and finishing at Ramsey Fire Station.
Chief Fire Officer Kevin Groom said: ‘I am delighted to confirm that the Walk will take place again this year; it is always pleasing to see the many walkers taking part. I look forward to a great day out and encourage local communities to support the event as it passes through their towns and villages.’
Entry forms will soon be available. Keep checking the website and social media page for updates: http://www.firefightersmemorialwalk.com/
