Barron and Cowin take home wins

Manx Harriers lead home success

Andy Barron and Adam Cowin were the major winners in the Manx Harriers open meeting at the NSC over the weekend – an event which again attracted a decent entry of athletes from Ireland and the UK.

Andy Barron won the 10 kilometre run in a time of 32.47 from Jamie Newton and Jack Okell.

Gail Griffiths was the quickest woman in a time of 44 minutes 52 seconds.

Another Manx Harrier, Adam Cowin, was the clear winner in the 20 kilometre walk in a time of one hour, 38 minutes and 54 seconds.

Sam Fletcher was second in one hour 53 minutes, 39 seconds with Hannah Hunter an impressive third, just a further eight seconds behind.

Visiting athletes from Clonmel in Ireland came out on top in the 10 kilometre walk with Aaron Egan (47.36) and Anthony Tobin (48.50) ensuring local Gianni Epifani (50.35) was the top local in third.

Jayne Farquhar was the leading local lady in a time of 64 minutes, 27 seconds.

Tom Partington of Manx Harriers won the five kilometre walk, Stephen Waddington won the three kilometre event and Olivia Corran the one kilometre
