The recipients of 2016/17 Sports Aid awards have been announced.
Fifty individuals from a wide variety of sports will receive financial support which will help towards expenses such as travel and equipment as well as support from the IOM Sport Institute who provide workshops on topics such as time management.
Sports Performance Co-ordinator with Isle of Man Sport, Chris Quine, said: "Sport Aid has played a vital role in the development of most of the Island's sports stars. A significant number of recipients have gone on to compete at the highest levels including world championships and Olympic Games. 2015 saw three current recipients win medals at world level."
Cycling superstar Mark Cavendish, who received Sport Aid at the start of his illustrious career, is one of the scheme’s principal sponsors.
The awards will be presented at the 2015 Isle of Man Sports Awards, sponsored by Isle of Man Bank, which take place on Wednesday 23rd March 2016 at the Villa Marina. Tickets are available from www.villagaiety.com.
