Sport Aid boost for Manx talent

by isleofman.com 18th February 2016

Fifty people get financial benefit

Fifty people from 17 sports and the Isle of Man Cycling Regional School of Racing will receive Sport Aid support over the next year.

Rugby players George Blackwell and James Maddrell will benefit from the Gubay - Chase Your Dream funding.

Several companies on the Island sponsor scholarships as does Manx cycling superstar Mark Cavendish who received Sport Aid at the start of his career.

As well as the Regional School of Racing, the Manx Missile is also backing sailor Ben Batchelor, gymnast Tara Donnelly and swimmer Ben Grainger.

Isle of Man Sport Performance Co-coordinator Chris Quine says the funding will help sports men and women with potential reach the next stage.
