Nomads edge closer to title

Beckley the star for Vagas

PDMS Southern Nomads inched ever closer to retaining their Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield title with a 48-10 win against Western Vikings at King William’s College.

Nomads are now five points clear at the top of the table with just three games to play.

Harry Catlow and Jacob Callow both grabbed hat-tricks for Nomads with other tries coming from Steve McHugh and Josh Bowman.

Greg Miller scored Vikings’ only try with Mike Caldwell kicking a penalty and a conversion.

Vagabonds B let everyone know they were still in the hunt for the Shield with an 81-0 defeat of bottom side Castletown.

Johnny Beckley was the star for Vagas with four tries.

Mark Howarth scored three, Kim Tomlinson and Matt Christian two and the other tries came from Sean Askin and Danny Kane.

Jack Rowlands kicked eight conversions.
